No início dessa semana aconteceu na Coventry University o Disport 2014 – Disability Sport: changing lives, changing perceptions?, segunda edição do evento organizado pelo Dr. Ian Brittain. Cerca de 15 países estiveram representados e, o Brasil só foi batido pelos ingleses. A gestão de um evento aqui é bem diferente quando comparadas com as do Brasil, pois estas são basicamente custeadas por órgãos públicos e, por aqui, como as universidades são privadas, não há espaço para desperdício.

O ponto alto do evento aconteceu no segundo dia, com a presença do Sir Philip Craven, presidente do Comitê Paralímpico Internacional. O grupo de pesquisadores brasileiros teve a chance de conversar com ele por cinco minutos ao fim da sessão de perguntas e respostas, e ele disse que espera muito dos Jogos em 2016. Aproveitamos para conversar com o grande exemplo que vimos no evento, o atleta e empresário K.J. Klooster, certamente um exemplo de vida e que não deixou um revés da vida desanimá-lo. Em seguida, nosso Pesquisador Líder, Dr. Leonardo Mataruna nos apresentou o pesquisador japonês, Katsuyoshi Shirai, do Japan Sport Council.

O último dia já se apresentou mais descontraído, inclusive com o sorteio de revistas acadêmicas e livros. Infelizmente não peguei o número certo. A última sessão veio logo em seguida, sendo fechada por Marcelo Haiachi e Leonardo Mataruna, fomos para o almoço e, em seguida, nos despedimos dos pesquisadores que ainda se encontravam por ali.

Seguimos para o Jaguar Building, para a reunião diária com toda a equipe. Após, fomos dispensados. Rotina de compras, café e jantar e alguns planos para 2015 no Brasil.

At the beginning of this week happened in Coventry University the Disport 2014-Disability Sport: changing lives, changing perceptions?, second edition of the event organised by Dr. Ian Brittain. About 15 countries were represented and the Brazil was only beaten by the English. The management of an event here is quite different when compared to those of Brazil, because they are basically borne by public agencies and, around here, how universities are private, there's no room for waste.

The highlight of the event happened on the second day, with the presence of Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). The Group of Brazilian researchers had the chance to talk to him for five minutes at the end of the Q&A session, and he said he expects the best Games in 2016. We talk with the great example that we saw at the event, the athlete and entrepreneur K.J. Klooster, surely an example of life and you didn't let a setback of life discourage you. Then, our Leading Researcher, Dr. Leonardo Mataruna introduced us the Japanese researcher, Katsuyoshi Shirai, Japan's Sport Council.

The last day has performed more relaxed, even with the draw of academic journals and books. Unfortunately I didn't get the right number. The last session came shortly thereafter, being closed by Marcelo Haiachi and Leonardo Mataruna, we went for lunch, and then we said goodbye to the researchers who were still there.

We went to the Jaguar Building, for the daily meeting with the whole team. After, we were dismissed. Routine shopping, coffee and dinner and some plans for 2015 in Brazil.
